    • Professor Brian Cox

      image

      The Forum, Bath, United Kingdom

      22 March 2024 (Friday) 19:30

Before he became a renowned professor of physics and all things related to science, Brian Cox was a keyboard player in the Irish band D:Ream. His time in the band was well spent, and although he’s turned to in the science department now, past history with the band is remembered well. Brian Cox also serves as a television presenter for BBC’s scientific programming.

Although Cox has left his band days behind, you still have a chance of seeing him in his entertaining live show that takes audiences to the edge of our current understanding about the origin and evolution of our solar system and the universe. He has several dates around England, starting on January 31st at The Anvil in Basingstoke. He’s also planning on visiting the Derby Arena, Manchester Arena, and the Arena Birmingham. As of right now, the last day to see him in 2019 is on October 11th in Oslo, Norway.

      Professor Brian Cox Background

Brian Cox was born in March of 1968 in Oldham, Lancashire, England. There he spent a fun childhood doing gymnastics, dance, and plane spotting. His parents both worked, but they made the effort to spend quality time with Brian throughout his youth. Although he’s very well-known for his extensive knowledge in complicated fields like quantum physics, Cox had a rough start in elementary school.

Before getting into higher education, Cox played as a keyboardist for the rock band, Dare. They released two albums together, before Cox began working with another band, D:Ream.

Brian Cox studied physics at the University of Manchester during his music career. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with first-class honors and a Master of Philosophy degree in physics. After D:Ream disbanded in 1997, he completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in high-energy particle physics at the University of Manchester. His thesis, Double Diffraction Dissociation at Large Momentum Transfer, was based on research he did on the H1 experiment at the Hadron Elektron Ring Anlage (HERA) particle accelerator at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg, Germany.

      Professor Brian Cox’s Biggest Hits

Although Cox doesn’t play anymore, he definitely left his mark on the music world in the past. Some of the greatest hits while he worked with his band were, “Things Can Only Get Better”, “U R The Best Thing”, and “Unforgiven”.
